The core of the interloper is full of crystals with really tons of compressed ghost matter, a heavy material and extremely instable. Obviously we know the energy readings there were only found after they landed but.!

Plus a lot of people see Big Energy talk about it's contents and equate it to the talk about "dammit no supernova, but we need Big Energy!" to mean "we need the energy in order to cause the supernova" rather than the other way around, especially since right after going "how will we get this energy?" they went straight to the Interloper. The Sun Station is a similar red herring but the only admission that it's job is to cause a supernova is aboard itself, or in a communication with the ATP, so often players read all the talk around it to mean it's basically just a solar energy plant, and they don't see it as a threat like they do the comet!Įven after seeing how very ruptured the core is, and reading the text saying "good thing this isn't ruptured!" many still see the text as current, that the comet is STILL full of murder material!
Knowing there's a timeloop with a fixed endpoint often means you're looking for something that happens at that end point, your eyes are peeled for what is (presumably) the thing you need to ultimately prevent. It's a suspicious comet that is consumed by the sun right before the music starts, so while nothing else points to it, that's enough for most people.
I didn't suspect it at all but I can take a guess, also having watched a lot of people come to the same conclusion! It might seem like the comet is causing it.I can see why it would be associated with the explosion.but having played the game, I do not believe that a comet that doomed the Nomai would stick around at just the right time to kill the protagonist’s alien race too.given the game’s adherence to science, it seems unlikely that the main event would be caused by something so bizarre.also, since the ghost matter was scattered throughout the solar system, some of it would definitely have come in contact with the sun.if the sun was indeed going to explode due to ghost matter, it would have done so moments after the Nomai are wiped out.In my personal opinion, the comet causing nova theory is like butter scraped over too much bread :) If we wind back the time.Interloper may have been a wayward comet that got caught up in the sun’s gravitational pull.and as the Nomai detect its presence for the first time, they set out to investigate it.But are obliterated by the ghost matter within.subsequently, this comet must have fallen into an orbit around the sun.and as the sun became a giant with the passage of time, it would swell to cross the path of comet’s orbit.and the comet following its orbit would fall into the expanding sun.which is what I presume happens in the last 22 minutes before the supernova.the comet isn’t causing the supernova, rather succumbing to a star going is merely a coincidence in my opinion that the comet’s demise overlaps with the nova.
